Why Do I Get Vape Liquid in My Mouth?

I was chatting to a client this week about the awful experience of getting vape liquid in your mouth; let’s face it, the taste of vape liquid, as opposed to the flavour of vape liquid, is quite a different experience. So how do we stop sucking vape liquid? ( Also known as “spit-back”). Let us look at some possibilities.

One of the most common mistakes among those brand new to the vaping community is taking short sharp hits ( inhaling hard), which does not give your vape device enough time to convert your vape juice into vapour. So what happens to that unvaporized liquid? You guessed it – into your mouth! Haste makes waste with this vaping technique. Most vape devices require a lighter draw than your traditional cigarettes.

Another common fault is that your vape device’s power is too low and cannot correctly vaporize your e-liquid. Increase your vape device’s wattage until you find a setting that works for you.

A vape device running low on battery and a flooded coil can also cause “spit-back”. A coil becomes flooded when it is over-saturated with vape liquid, and it cannot absorb & heat more e-liquid/vape juice. When you inhale, you may have experienced the bubbling, gurgling sound, which indicates that your vape coil is flooded.

Be careful when you are filling your vape device tank. Do not be tempted to fill the vape liquid to the brim, as this can cause e-liquid flooding.

Your vape device might have excess liquid from everyday use as it is shaken up from pockets and handbags as we move through our day (and on occasion, we lose our device altogether 😊).

Finally, you will have to play around with your vape liquid to find a brand that suits your preferences. Vape liquids with a higher PG ratio are thinner and have more flavour, and VG vape liquids are thicker. VG vape liquids take longer to soak into your vape device’s wicking material, and there is less of a chance that the vape coil has taken on too much liquid.
